It is with great pleasure and honour that I, on behalf of Mother Touch Group of schools (M.T.G.S) welcome you to our beloved school of excellence in 2017.
This is our 21st year in operation since inception from humble beginnings as an Early Childhood Development (E.C.D) centre in 1996. We are grateful to God and all our stakeholders who have believed in us and supported the vision this far and we continue to say “Ebenezer!”
M.T.G.S is a great God given vision that was laid on a sure, tried and tested foundation (Isaiah 28vs 16). Birthed through prayer in 1996, M.T.G.S started as an (E.C.D) centre in Marimba, Harare, Zimbabwe. Mother Touch has grown from strength to strength through God’s grace and favour and has become the most preferred, comprehensive learning institution comprising of elite E.C.D, Junior and Senior schools
Our mission is to create a conducive environment in order to produce God fearing, socially responsible and acceptable young confident leaders who are able to solve problems, and make a difference. We achieve our mission through Christian values and morals namely, love, integrity, diligence, collaboration, excellence and professionalism. Our motto remains, “excellence”.
As M.T.G.S we walk our talk, and I would like to take a moment to reflect on our achievements as an institution in 2016.The word of God in Psalms 127:1 says, ”Unless the Lord builds the house ,they labour in vain who build it…”. M.T.G.S is God breathed, a living, growing and dynamic organisation. Without God, our Lord Jesus Christ and our valued stakeholders this would not have been possible.
MTGS is now the hub where we nurture, develop, and mould young children, watch them grow, graduate from reputable universities at national, regional and international institutions. Our “brand” is equipped to take on the world and its challenges, touching lives and making it a better place to live in.
MTGS has been experiencing exponential growth in all aspects which include enrolment, staff compliment as well as significant improvement in standards. This has been due to our excellent curriculum, state of the art equipment and infrastructure. In addition to the above we have enhanced our entrepreneurial skills, leadership and life skills as well as I.C.T and financial management expertise. We have also embarked on massive I.C.T projects for the group of schools. This will enable the learner to connect and partner with other schools, nationally, regionally and internationally, sharing ideas globally during lessons. Our ECD centres have been refurbished; there is new play equipment and materials to enhance fast holistic development of the child as this is the critical foundational stage which will determine all future learning and development. We made great strides in E.C.D sports and introduced swimming in the Olympic size pool for the little ones to develop survival skills.
Our sporting disciplines for the group have also increased, we have introduced Golf and many others to cater for individual differences and our 1st senior rugby team did us proud at the Cottco Festival in their division.
Our infrastructure is designed to captivate and motivate pupils to have a sense of pride and belonging to M.T.G.S. The junior school 4th classroom block is almost complete and the chapel is now at an advanced stage. The “world class” boarding house 1st wing for juniors is now complete and the 2nd wing is in progress. The increase in our transport fleet has spruced up our image and improved the travelling conditions of our learners and staff.
Our staff compliment and retention capacity has continued to increase and improve. In addition our qualified and well experienced staff continuously seek to develop themselves in order to be relevant in the global village. This has enhanced our learner’s potential ability. They remain our greatest and most valuable strategic resource which has enabled us to achieve our desired goals.
All our ECD staff attended a comprehensive and intensive training programme at a reputable teacher training institution to ensure that our little ones get the best. The junior school has continued to make us proud having achieved 100% pass rate, 3 years in a row now and scooping the district and national awards academic prize. High School “O” and “A” level results have improved significantly. Our high school is highly commendable as we do not screen during enrolment, but provide every child with an opportunity to reach their full potential.
Above all M.T.G.S received more awards in 2016 which include; best E.C.D facilities (Warren Park / Mablereign District), Award Winner of Social Responsibility Excellence (Harare Metropolitan Province), and 1st runner up Company of the year-(Standards Association of Zimbabwe). The Group of Schools from E.C.D to High school had the opportunity of travelling to the United Kingdom (UK) for a musical and cultural festival, Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod and attained 2nd place globally for the Instrumental Ensemble. We were a force to reckon with and a beacon of light not only for our school and country, but for the whole continent of Africa as well. This is an annual festival of music, song and dance in Wales, UK and it has become part of our event for all learners. We continue to endeavour to produce a well-rounded, grounded learner who will be equipped anywhere in the world.
Our supportive Parents,’ thank you for the continued support in all events. The more than 90% attendance in all school activities shows your commitment and love for the child. Let’s however use this opportunity to identify the individual child’s talent and take a step further to develop and nurture it outside school in order to exhibit excellence in their performance for success. This will have synergistic effects when we come together and work as a team.
Just like any other institution around we have our fair share of challenges. However, God has always been with us and in our midst, held us with His right hand and enabled us to go through the waters and fire of time without being overwhelmed, but winning the 2016 race.
While we rejoice and remain grateful for the success and achievements made in 2016, we now look forward and take responsibility for the future (2017) that lies ahead.
This year 2017, happens to be year 5777 on the Jewish calendar, the year of the Lords blessing. We have declared it, the year of acceleration in achieving excellent quality results in all aspects be it academic or non-academic. We have lined up several local, regional and international tours. The learner remains at the centre of our core business and we are now embarking on our long term project plans for their benefit. These include the following, establishing a special needs class, creating a mini golf course, building a state of the art school auditorium and staff residence. We have also secured land to build an International School in one of the fast growing towns, and on a separate piece of land 80 km out of Harare to construct M.T.G.S campsite, Senior boarding school, tertiary facility or University. Our vision is to become the most preferred comprehensive learning institution made up of elite E.C.D centres, Junior and Senior School as well as an International School and Tertiary education centre. With God’s Grace, guidance and favour it is possible, and will be done.
On this note I would like to thank once again all our stakeholders, our valued parents, learners, service providers, prospective clients, board members, dedicated staff and management for the unwavering support. I wish you all a victorious and peaceful 2017.
